The Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM) was established as an affiliated research institute of the International University of Japan in 1991. Since its establishment, GLOCOM has focused on interdisciplinary Japanese research and information society research and practice rooted in the development and spread of information and communication technologies, and it aims to always be a cutting-edge research institute for new social trends as a point of contact for industry, government, academia, and the public.
Thank you Akira Miyahara, welcome Jiro Shono, GLOCOM’s outgoing and incoming Executive Directors
October 1, Akira Miyahara retired from his position as GLOCOM’s Executive Director. In the six years he led GLOCOM, Mr. Miyahara introduced a business focus to GLOCOM’s research with new programs on innovation policy and future management, as well as strengthening the organization’s management structure and relations with partners and supporters. Mr. Miyahara will continue as an advisor to GLOCOM and as Vice Chairman, International University of Japan.
GLOCOM is very pleased to welcome Jiro Shono as new Executive Director. Mr. Shono joins GLOCOM from Fuji Xerox where he had held the positions of Executive Vice President and Director, and Corporate Auditor. Mr. Shono has degrees from the Faculty of Economics, Keio University and from Pennsylvania State University. He brings a wealth of international management experience to GLOCOM. Mr. Shono is a Councillor, International University of Japan.
