GLOCOM has substantially reformed its organization to facilitate the activities of netizens, which include policy proposal and educational activities and practical activities, in addition to research activities.

The first layer is the “research platform” layer. This layer (division) provides logistics services, physical spaces and research assistance services for the activities of each Group, while at the same time promoting exchange among the Groups and making new investments. Through these activities, the layer responds appropriately to the diverse needs that arise in the research activity layer.

The second layer is the “research activity” layer. Outstanding researchers are gathered here from inside and outside GLOCOM as Group leaders, and they conduct research and other activities with the support of the services provided by the research platform layer. Each Group seeks independence in their activities, as a loosely-organized business entity.

In addition, steps are being taken to build collaborative networks with outside research organizations, to better promote the effective use of the research platform and resources of GLOCOM.
