In fact, much of the physical work was mechanized and productivity increased rapidly especially in the manufacturing industry by the First Industrial Revolution with the steam engine at the end of the 18th century and the Second Industrial Revolution with electric power, etc. at the beginning of the 20th century. And our information processing ability has improved dramatically by the Third Industrial Revolution, which started in the middle of the 20th century with the use of information and communication technology. And now, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is underway with AI, robots, and IoT.

The Japanese government is advertising that the 4th industrial revolution will lead to the realization of Society 5.0, following the hunting and gathering society, agrarian society, industrial society, and the information society. However, if we follow Masuda’s definition, it is more natural to interpret that the 1st and 2nd industrial revolutions led to the birth of the industrial society, and the 3rd and 4th industrial revolutions led to the transition to the information society.

My current interest lies in the nature of the changes that the third and fourth industrial revolutions will bring to society, economy, and business. I believe that if we can understand the nature of these changes, we can make some contribution to the formation of a healthy information society.

Major Works

“How SMEs should work on DX” Best Partner June 2021, Hamagin Research Institute, June 2021, pp. 4-14

“What will change with IoT and big data?” Creating Practical Sociology, Japan Educational Foundation Press, August 2016, pp.54-59

“Transformation of software development” A Social History of Science and Technology in Japan at the Turn of the Century, 1995-2011, Vol. 2 , Hara Shobo, 2012.2, pp.339-362

“Big Trends: Where is IT headed?” (co-author), Aspect, June 2009.

National ID (co-author), NTT Publishing, 2009.1.22

Major Lectures and Oral Presentations

The Essence of DX and the Transformation of Business, AITC DX Seminar, May 7, 2021

What is DX (Digital Transformation),” Tokyo Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs, January 23, 2020

What DX Brings, Hitachi Social Innovation Forum NEXT KYUSHU 100 on July 23 (Kitakyushu), July 24 (Oita), July 25 (Kumamoto), August 1 (Kumamoto), and August 2 (Naha), 2019.

Major Achievements

Investigation Committee on Basic Resident Registration Network System (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) 2004-2015

Study Committee on the Utilization of Japanese Public Key Infrastructure (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) 2006-2007

Committee on Subsidies for introduction of IT (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), 2018-

Educational Background

Graduated from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Department of Computer Science

Career

1978 Joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry
1992 Director, Information Computer and Communications Policy Office, Machinery and Information Industry Bureau, MITI
1994 Director, Industrial Electronics Division, JETRO New York Center
1997 Director, IT Security Center, Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA)
1999 Visiting Professor, Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies, Waseda University
2007 Professor, Faculty of Information Technology and Business, Cyber University (-2017)
2008 Executive Director, Computer Software Association of Japan (-2016)
2016 Director, Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM), International University of Japan (-2019)
2017 Dean / Professor, Faculty of Information and Management, Tokyo Online University (-Present)
2018 President & CEO, Japanese Registration of Certificated Auditors and Experts (JRCA) (-Present)

[10
post-175","researcher","type-researcher","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","resercher_tax-peripatetic
